Building of the Dwarka Expressway is going well.
Introduction
The Dwarka Expressway is a 26 km long, 8-lane controlled-access expressway connecting Dwarka in Delhi to Gurgaon in Haryana. It is being constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The construction of this much-awaited expressway started in 2016 and is expected to be completed by 2019. When finished, it will reduce the travel time between Dwarka and Gurgaon from 2 hours to just 45 minutes.
This expressway is being built at a cost of Rs 7,500 crore and will have 5 interchanges, 14 flyovers, 1 road over bridge and 1 rail over bridge.
The first 10 km stretch of the expressway from Dwarka to Palam Vihar was opened to traffic in February 2018. The remaining 16 km stretch from Palam Vihar to Kherki Daula is expected to be completed by December 2018.
- Dwarka Expressway Progressing Well
The much-awaited Dwarka Expressway Projects is making good progress and is expected to be completed by 2023. The 142-km long expressway will connect Delhi to Gurgaon and is a key infrastructure project for the National Capital Region (NCR).
The construction of the expressway was started in 2018 and is being executed by several agencies, including the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
The Dwarka Expressway will have six lanes in each direction and will pass through some of the most congested areas in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad and Rewari. The expressway will have a total of 27 interchanges, with 22 in Delhi and 5 in Haryana.
The Dwarka Expressway is an important project for decongesting Delhi roads and easing connectivity between Delhi and its satellite cities. Once completed, it is expected to reduce travel time between Delhi and Gurugram by 30-40%.
- Construction Updates
The much-awaited Dwarka Expressway New Projects is finally seeing some progress, with construction work on the various segments of the expressway picking up pace.
The first section of the Dwarka Expressway, from Shiv Murti to Palam Vihar, is expected to be completed by December 2021. The second section, from Palam Vihar to Kherki Daula, is expected to be completed by March 2022.
The third and final section of the Dwarka Expressway, from Kherki Daula to Dasna, is expected to be completed by June 2022.
Once complete, the Dwarka Expressway will provide a much-needed relief to commuters travelling between Delhi and Gurgaon, and will also reduce traffic congestion on the existing Delhi-Gurgaon expressway.
